Höttinger Alm, Innsbruck, Tyrol, Austria

If you’re in good shape and up for a proper 2-hour hike, Höttinger Alm is the reward: a quintessential Tyrolean mountain hut with a breathtaking panorama over the Inn Valley. Head up to Hungerburg (bus line J, Hungerburgbahn funicular, or by car) and follow the signposts — the fastest route crosses the steep ski slope. Pack a rucksack with a Jause (snack), drinks, and a spare shirt for the way up. Or save your energy and eat at the hut: homemade Tyrolean food like Kaspressknödel (cheese dumplings) will fuel you for the way back down.
