Yellow Bastion, Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina

From Sarajevo’s old town it’s a short walk up to the 18th-century fortress that was part of the city walls. The fort itself is modest, but it sits above an impressive cemetery and is a popular spot for watching sunsets. You can sit on benches or the stone wall and take in the city. Don’t count on the café being open – it was closed on a Saturday evening when we visited.
